The Small Theatre hosted the Slovak National Theatre’s drama company until 2007. From the beginning the company’s main aim was to complement the repertoire of the Hviezdoslav Theatre. Also the theatre provided a space for youg artists who performed plays of social criticism.
The Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav Theatre housed the Slovak National Theatre’s drama until 2007.The theatre was reconstructed in the 1968 and modernized in the 1980s.
Is one of the oldest theatres in Bratislava. In the beginning from its establishment in 1828 it served as an open summer amphitheatre. Many theatre companies from Hungary, Austria and Germany performed here until the end of the Second World War. After the war, the theatre repertoire consisted of several pantomimic performances, every year a pantomimic festival took place there. Since 2003, the theatre has shifted to drama.
Theatre follows in the footsteps of the Bratislava's Na Korze Theatre, closed during the Soviet invasion in 1968. The theatre had an artistic approach to modern world classics. The present theatre repertoire has in addition focused on the contemporary playwriting. Its performances are popular among a variety of audiences. The company has performed abroad on international festivals and has received many important theatre awards, e.x. the Grand Prix for the best Slovak theatre production in 2005.
The theatre was founded in 1957 and is one of the oldest puppet theatres in Slovakia. During its existence, the theatre has performed in more than 25 coutries. The theatre was awarded by several international prices. Bratislava Puppet Theatre’s performances are well popular among children and adults.
The Theatre was founded in 1946 as the second theatre in Bratislava. It introduces various performances, especially comedies and music, authentic Slovak plays or world-wide classic works and also plays for children and youth.
