It is the largest museum and cultural institution in Slovakia. The Slovak National Museum consists of 16 specialized museums in and outside Bratislava.

The museum is situated in the Royal Palace of Bratislava Castle. The exhibition comprises archaeological part and art-history part with a unique specimen from various places of Slovakia.

Permanent exhibition introduces the history and culture of Jews living in the territory of Slovakia, their life, festivals, the interior of a synagogue and personalities of Jewish origin.

The exhibition presents the history and culture of the Hungarian ethnic minority in Slovakia.

The exhibition presents the history and culture of the Carpathian Germans living in the territory of Slovakia.

Is the oldest museum in Slovakia, founded in the 19th century. The museum’s collections document the history of Bratislava from the earliest periods until the 20th century. The Bratislava City Museum houses the following museums with permanent expositions throughout the city:
Main museum that displays the history of Bratislava including the history of artisanal crafts and trade, coronations of the hungarian emperors, science, technology, social life, sacred arts and the development of industry in the 19th - 20th centuries.

Due to reconstruction, the museum has been CLOSED since April 27, 2008
After museum’s vast reconstruction, it has been the seat of two museums. The Museum of Viticulture documents the history of the cultivation and production of wine in Bratislava, also introduces two important vintners - J. E. Hubert and Palugyay.
The Museum of Historical Interiors exhibits the wood wall coverings and wall paintings and furniture of the the aristocrats in Bratislava in the 18th-19th centuries.

The exhibition documents the history of the town fortifications; types of bladed weapons, military and tournament arms and the development of firearms.

Contains a pharmaceutical collection and is unique of its kind in Slovakia. Documents of the high level expertises come from the 16th century.

The exposition documents the history of clockmaking in Bratislava between the 17th – 19th centuries.

The exhibition documents a collection of the music composer's musical instruments and samples of note records of his works.

The museum presents the life and works of the Bratislava-born sculptor Arthur Fleischmann (1896-1990).

The museum presents the life and works of the distinguished Slovak poet and writer Janko Jesenský. The museum is housed in his flat. It is the first literary museum in Slovakia.
Opening hours: Visits have to be arranged in advance.

Belongs to the national cultural monuments of Slovakia. Devín castle is located on a cliff above a confluence of the river Danube and Morava. The area has been populated since the late Stone Age. In the 9th century an important Great Moravian fortress stood here. Devín is an excellent location for walks for its splendid view on the surrounding countryside. It is an important symbol of Slovak history.

The museum is located on the Roman military base from the 2nd - 4th centuries. The exhibition presents the findings of the archaeological research.

The Slovak National Gallery was founded in 1948. It houses also other galleries outside Bratislava: at the Zvolen Castle in Zvolen, in Spišská Belá, in Ružomberok and in Pezinok.

The gallery was founded in 1961 and is the second largest gallery in Slovakia. Its displays are housed at Palffy Palace and Mirbach Palace in the Old Town.
